Privacy Policy

What Clank stores on your phone

• Your modes. The names, icons, and the app and website selections you make. Apple hands these selections to Clank as opaque tokens. Clank cannot see which apps or websites they stand for, and neither can anyone else who reads the app's data.
• Your schedules and their on or off state.
• Your sessions. When a clank started and ended, and which mode it used. This powers the Activity tab.
• Your paired tag. The hardware identifier of the NFC tag you paired, and whether you stored the launch link on it.
• Settings such as strict mode and the number of emergency unclanks left.

This data lives in the app's private storage and in an App Group shared only with Clank's own extensions (the shield, the schedule monitor, the widget, and the Shortcuts action). It is included in your normal iPhone backup and is deleted when you delete the app or use "Reset all data" in Settings.

What Clank never does

• It does not create accounts or ask for an email address.
• It does not send your data to any server, including ours.
• It does not use analytics, crash reporting, or advertising libraries.
• It does not read the content of your NFC tag beyond its identifier and the single link it writes at your request.

Screen Time

Clank blocks apps with Apple's Screen Time (the Family Controls framework). You grant this access once. Blocking is enforced by iOS on the device. Apple does not tell Clank which apps you picked, and Clank does not report anything back to Apple beyond what iOS does on its own.

The launch link and this website

If you choose "Make your tag open Clank", the app writes the address goclank.com/tap onto your tag. When Clank is installed, iOS opens the app directly and this website is never contacted. If Clank is not installed, the phone opens that address in Safari, and our hosting provider sees the request the way any web server does: your IP address, the time, and the browser type. We do not add tracking to that.

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It loads the Outfit typeface from Google Fonts, which means Google receives the request for the font file. The site is hosted on Expo's EAS Hosting, which runs on Cloudflare; both may keep standard server logs.

Children

Clank is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone. It collects no personal data at all.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new effective date. The app's source code is public, so you can always check what it does.
